TRAM

Another thing I did on my birthday while still in Palm Springs was ride the tram up to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, which kept reminding me of that song by Peter Gabriel. My dad told me I rode up this thing when I was three-years old and I remembered none of it.

ERNIE AND BERT

Worn and abused coin-operated rides are somewhat frightening to me, especially when unused and missing parts, like the steering wheel on this one. I used to love them as a child myself but feel no amount of beloved childhood icon or playful theme can cover up their cold, motor soul, just a moment removed from being dangerous in some obscure way.

SUNSET

Time lapse of Sunset in Joshua Tree National Park. The shitty quality of this clip and annoying lens flare does no justice to this event. I had recorded some ambient sound to go along with this but had programmed my camera incorrectly, so I’m ambivalent about the music here.

JOSHUA TREE

Spent a couple of hours here at sunset on my birthday. The park was basically deserted except for few climbers and nearby campers and the silence was almost uncomfortable. Some places can have a profound impact on you no matter how long you spend there.
